Grinds metal products to remove features of excess metal and stock and smooth casting surface.
Smooths interior, sides, edges, and surface of product.
Identify rough spots, sand inclusion, porosity, and any other potential defects during cleaning.
Stages castings inside cleaning booths as well as all tools required to complete a job.
Operates and utilizes cleaning booths to minimize particulate hazards.
Utilize hand tools, compressed air, overhead crane, and forklift (when necessary).
Performs minor maintenance of hand tools and equipment where able.
Applies paints, sprays, bandings, etc. as necessary.
Verifies – through visual inspection – the casting quality with Floor Supervisor, or representative, before and after completion of work processes.
Utilize heavy grinding tools, air cannon, forklift, and heavy blasting equipment as necessary.
Detect faulty operations, defective material or castings, and report issues or unusual situations to Floor Supervisor or representative.
Prepare, package, and load castings safely and carefully onto customer or third-party transport vehicle.
Comply with health and safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Adheres to training program and any relevant training required through the Operations Trainer.
Other responsibilities as dictated by the Floor Supervisor or representative.
Technical knowledge of chipping/grinding/fettling process.
