Job Description:

Job Summary: The Safety Manager is responsible for the promotion of a safety culture, the development and execution of safety plan activities and accompanying documentation that will ensure both regulatory compliance and achievement of company operational goals and objectives.

Key accountabilities:

Develop safety plans, coordinate safety activities, and provide safety expertise to all team Members to ensure an injury free workplace.   

Promote a safety culture through continuous interactions and activities to ensure accidents and/or injuries are minimized or eliminated

Implement and accurately document all incidents, inspections, and training activities to achieve necessary regulatory compliance.    

Responsibilities:

Ensure the Hemm’s safety vision, policies and procedures are communicated, understood, and followed by all employees.

Provide technical expertise and guidance to Foreman and employees on safety requirements on jobsite, fabrication, warehouse, and other areas of interest.

Facilitate safety training activities for new hires during the onboarding process as part of the established safety plan or as necessary with all current employees.

Actively promote a Safety 1st culture through interpersonal interactions and various promotional activities to ensure all employees have a personal accountability for their personal safety and the safety of other employees.

Establish and update as necessary an equipment and work area safety inspection plan, periodically performing safety audits to ensure safety inspections are being conducted for all equipment and work areas to ensure safe operation.    

Perform shop and job site safety inspections to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure safety regulation compliance.

Ensure all inspections results, identified corrective actions and completion of corrective actions are properly documented and communicated to appropriate parties.

Maintain OSHA 300 log and documentation of all accident and injury incidents.

 

Monitor and track employee safety training activities and certifications to ensure all employees possess the required safety training and certifications for their position.

 

 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: 2 years in a similar position

Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills

Required: High school diploma. Some college or technical schooling experience is preferred.
